“Babies” is a documentary that highlights the culture difference in raising children. This documentary follows the life of Four babies form four different cultures, the documentary follows the children as they develop as well as the parental influence it also evaluates the environment and cultural differences that influence the child’s progression through life. There are so many differences within culture that affects the development as well as the relational view of God and their peers.

This documentary is one that not only provides cultural awareness but also allows you to predict future religiosity and spirituality. It was discussed in class that from the ages of 18months -24months that the experiences that we have as children correlate to the relationship that we will have with God or a higher power. For instance in the African Culture babes are under what is known as 24/7 care where the baby is constantly carried by the mother, and constantly attended to. This relationship is classified as quick, consistent and effective. This would predict that as the child got older there view of God would be similar, it is hoped that they would view God as an on time, quick, consistent and effective which may be classified as a full dependence on God .

Quick, Effective and consistent parental involvement is very important in the first 18-24 months of an infants’ life. For this affects their future relationships including the relationship with God, or a higher power. When children are younger their minds are like sponges that soak up our actions and form our actions they create a response in order to get what they need, infants need care, love and to be responded to in a way that will benefit them both in long and short term situations. That’s why effective and loving parenting is important…. What you do in a child’s infant days can affect their faithful days
